Taylor Swift - A class Act

She may have a-lot of “boyfriends” but Taylor Swift is a classy southern belle on the red carpet, while her Hollywood counterparts take pride in showing a little too much, Taylor shows off her elegant and ladylike self at the Golden Globes in a modest high neck and full length gown and she looks amazing for it. She also nicely avoided a side nipple slip by taking precautions and using a covering. Take note ladies!

Motivation From Gwyneth

I love this healthy dose of realisim from Gwyneth Paltrow, you want it – you gotta work for it!

Dare To Bare!

Summer Legs. Source: http://suummerrlovee.tumblr.com/page/2
The days are getting longer and Springs about to spring (pardon the pun); this has my thoughts turning to summer fashion and ripping off Winters layers!

Which means it’s time to not only refocus on my fitness plan (this hasn’t been going well – but more on this latter) but time to start prepping my skin and legs for shorter hem line and bare exposure.

So here is my strategy for daring to bare...

Hairy Scary. I’m not patient enough to be a waxer and being blonde laser isn’t an option so shaving it is, I find the best strategy for coming out of Winter is frequency, start saving every couple of days; this will make sure you pick up any missed patches – it also helps exfoliate which leads me to.....

Exfoliate, exfoliate! I love The Body Shops range of scrubs (particularly the sugar scrubs); they smell define & leave my skin feeling revitalised I also think the old school exfoliating glove works wonders. A great scrub will remove old skin cells, leaving your legs polished and ready for moisturizer absorption.

Oil Up. This was a trick my mum taught me when I was a teenager, after exfoliating just before you get out of the shower apply a small amount of Baby Oil all over legs, I only do this when my skin is particularly dry – like now after Winter!

Moisturise. Twice a day—sounds easy but when its freezing its a commitment, I aim for once in the morning (after my shower) and once at night before bed.

Follow this plan for a 3 weeks and you’ll be ready to bare!

Sample Sailing.....

My new purchases

There is nothing like the rush of a good sample sale the kind of excitement only amazing pieces that you never come across at crazy OMG prices can bring.

This was exactly the rush I had when I went to the recent PR showroom sample sale, even better that i scored an invite to the VIP night which means I had the first pick!! I walked out with a wooping 4 pairs of shoes plus a vintage Chanel bag and a arm full of House of Harlow jewelry.

Although reviewing my selection I released they added my bill wrong meaning I paid an extra $40 and some items had more damage then I released... Slightly disappointed but still over the moon hello "vintage Chanel" so what happened? Simple the rush of excitement over took my rational side which had me thinking I need to formalise my sample sale check list to avoid future rush driven purchasing.

So here is my sample sailing check list;

  • Plan a budget as per above case it gets dangerous when the adrenalin takes over.
  • Always try clothes on even if the line up is huge. Even if you are always a 10 designer samples may very they also may have fit problems if they were one of the earlier samples in the production process.
  • Always check the quality - they are samples and have been tried on and used for selling and photoshoots so double check! (this is were i failed)
  • Always wash and clean before wear just as you would with vintage
  • Try to score a VIP invite to get the first pick and avoid the masses
  • Failing a VIP invite depending on the demand for the designer and if it is just samples or also a warehouse depends on the best time, I suggest for a smaller independent sample sales you want to get there early to get the best choice as they will have limited range and sizes for larger warehouse sales where they have huge amounts of stock I would go mid afternoon on a week day if possible unfortunately for some sample sales like a Peep Toe shoe sale there will be a line up no matter what time you go, so for this one my strategy is take my BFF and arrive super early (an hour before they open) with breakfast in hand and a girly catch up while waiting in line.

Sydney's (prob Australia's) best resource for sample sales is Missy Confidential with a weekly email loading you with intel. Happy Sample Sale-ing
